The QS Emerging Europe and Central Asia University Rankings 2020 have been released and these higher education institutions took the top spots.

Russian higher education institutions are dominating the recently released QS Emerging Europe and Central Asia University Rankings 2020 with the top three institutions all located within Russia.

Lomonosov Moscow State University retained its top spot thanks to its first-place positioning for both academic reputation and employer reputation.

Saint Petersburg State University followed in second place, rising from its equal third position last year.

Novosibirsk State University rounded out the top three in third place, though it dropped one place from its second position last year.

Throughout the Emerging Europe and Central Asia Rankings, Russia contributes 104 of the 350 institutions listed. Interestingly, Turkey is the second most represented, contributing 51 institutions to the rankings.

Russia also boasts small class sizes, five of the top 10 institutions for faculty/student ratio are in Russia. When it comes to Turkey, the citations indicator shows that Turkey has a range of top research institutions.

The only Estonian university to make the top 20 was the University of Tartu, rising from its fifth position last year to sit in fourth place.

Charles University in the Czech Republic came in fifth place, followed by Polish institutions Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw in sixth and seventh place respectively.

In eighth place, Russian institution Tomsk State University saw a big jump in the rankings from its previous 13th position.

Finally, rounding out the top ten we have Czech institutions the Czech Technical University in Prague and Masaryk University in ninth and tenth place respectively.
