Who are the Frontrunners for the QS MBA by Career Specialization Rankings 2021?

The QS MBA by Career Specialization Rankings 2021 have been revealed. Here’s a summary of how institutions have fared this year. 

Results are in for the QS MBA by Career Specialization Rankings 2021, an in-depth ranking that considers MBA programs from a specific career outcome perspective.  

The industrial and functional specializations explored as part of the rankings include: 

  • Consulting 
  • Entrepreneurship 
  • Finance 
  • Information Management 
  • Marketing 
  • Operations Management 
  • Technology 

The consulting rankings saw ISEAD Business School retain its top spot from the previous rankings, receiving an average score of 96.1 and perfect scores in the categories of career placement and employer reputation. 

Second place in the consulting rankings was awarded to London Business School, an improvement on its previous position in fifth place. 

The next three subsequent ranks were all awarded to institutions in the US, with MIT Sloan School of Management, Columbia Business School, and Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University receiving third, fourth, and fifth position respectively.  

The entrepreneurship rankings also saw no movement in the top spot from the previous rankingswith Stanford Graduate School of Business keeping a firm grip on the coveted first place.  

However, a dramatic shift did occur regarding second place, with MIT Sloan School of Management jumping from 11th to second place.  

Harvard Business School was awarded third place, and Imperial College Business School fourth, both receiving a score of 97 for research strength.  

Fifth position was handed to Copenhagen Business School, a huge improvement from the previous rankings when the institution sat in 25th position.  

While the top five performers in the finance rankings has remained the same since the previous rankings, this year’s ranking has seen a slight change in the order. 

The top spot has stayed consistenthaving been awarded again to Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. 

However, Stanford Graduate School of Business now takes second position, having previously sat in fifth, and Harvard Business School has been ranked in third placea nudge down from its previous spot. 

All top three universities in the finance rankings received a perfect score in the category of employer reputation. 

Once again, US institutions are coming out on top in the next category of rankings, information management, with MIT Sloan School of Management keeping a firm hold on first place.  

Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and Kellogg School of Management received second and third position respectively, a huge improvement for Ross School of Business who was previously awarded 10th place.  

The marketing category saw Stanford Graduate School of Business keep first position, receiving an average score of 90.5 and a perfect score for employer reputation. 

Second place this year was awarded to Ross School of Business, and third to UCLA Anderson School of Management, followed closely by Kelley School of Business at Indiana University 

Marshall Business School at the University of Southern California, saw a significant increase of their position in the rankings, moving from 19th place to fifth. This improvement could be attributed to the school receiving high scores of 90 in career placement and 93 in research strength. 

MIT Sloan School of Management topped the list for the technology categorywhile Stanford Graduate School of Business and Haas School of Business swapped positions from the previous rankings, with the former now sitting in second position and the latter in third.
